Look at the 2012 Prophecy

When looking at the 2012 prophecy predictions for the end of the world, the Mayan prophecies are some that have a great deal of resonance and have begun drawing a lot of attention. Throughout history, there has been a real fascination with the end of the world, and there have been many sects that have predicted it. Whether these predictions have already failed to come to fruition or whether it remains to be seen whether they will come to pass, it cannot be denied how very interesting they are and what they mean to us on a personal level.

A Look at the 2012 Prophecies

Everyone is curious about the 2012 prophecy.  When it comes to Mayan prophecy, it could be a college subject.  There is much to learn.  Here’s just a little bit about the subject.

Spirituality is a cornerstone in human society. Prophetic events, past and future, serve as benchmarks and/or proof of the unseen God.  This idea is not just true of modern day belief systems but also ancient civilizations that have inspired us with their knowledge of the cosmos without seemingly any modern day technology.  One such group of ancients is the Mayans. 

Mayan prophecies derived from a deep understanding of natural cycles.  They centered on their calendar systems and observations of numerous celestial bodies.  It is the calendar that largely contributes to the rising popularity of what is known as the 2012 prophecies.

The Mayan prophecies are based on complex system of several calendars and almanacs.  The most important would have to be the Tzolkin.  This was a 260 day calendar that was actually interlocked and synchronized with a 360 day calendar known as the haab.  Together they form what is known as a calendar round, which makes up a 52 year cycle. 

Calendar rounds add up to make the “great cycle” which is a period of 26,000 years.  This is actually an accurate account of our suns orbit around the star Alcyone, the central star in the Pleiades constellation which takes us approximately 26,000 years to complete. 

The beginning of the last cycle was 3113 B.C., which is the dawn of civilization for humankind.  Every great cycle we complete is a grand step in our evolution, which brings us to the 2012 prophecies seeing as our 26,000 years is due to end on December 21st at 11:00am of that year.  Apparently the Mayans were precise.

Looking at it from a more modern stand point, science has an interesting but strangely congruent version of such a cycle.  At the center of our universe is a massive spinning black hole with a nearly unimaginable amount of gravitational force, which of course the Mayan prophecy is unaware of. 

As the universe spins, the momentum of gravity being forced outward creates a flat disc of concentrated gravity, similar to the shape that a twirling string begins to take.  At first it would be wobbly then when spun faster it would stream line into a flat rotating disc. 

As our solar system rotates around in the galaxy it wobbles, just like the earth does as it orbits the sun.  This wobble allows our solar system to cross through this thin layer of powerful gravity.  When this happens the effects on our planet can be catastrophic with increased chances of meteors crashing into us and the poles flipping, among other things. 

We pass through that thin layer of powerful gravity approximately every 26,000 years.  Knowledge of this contributes to the growing popularity of the 2012 prophecies.
